About
According to documents, this church was brought from Moldova by a group of Macedonian merchants around 1725.They wanted to celebrate Easter, but did not find any Orthodox church in this area. It is testimony of traditional peasant art, being made of unbleached wooden with joint beams. The church is cross-shaped, which is rare form of church in Transylvania. The folk paintings in the seven-sided altar, unique in Romania, bear the signature of Toader Zugravul. Between 1785 and 1809, when scholar Petru Maior served in this church, the porch and the bell tower were added.
