About

Also called the Secular Oak, the old tree is on the plateau next to the Round Forest, watching the city from the top of the hill.

In 2010, the oak entered the Tree of the Year competition and ranked No. 6 in 87 country-nominated trees.

Planted in 1849 to commemorate the victory over the Hungarian revolutionary troops, the tree is about 7 meters tall, its damaged bark being a symbol of the passage of time and the desire to survive.
