Lăpușna Royal Hunting Castle is situated at an altitude of 815 m, in Ibăneşti commune, Lăpuşna village, in a special mountainous area.
The castle is 45 km from Reghin, in the Gurghiu Mountains, on the valley of the same name. The castle was built between 1925 and 1926, but it was completed and decorated only in 1933.
It belonged to the kings of Romania (Ferdinand, Carol II and Mihai I) until 1949 when it was nationalized. When Nicolae Ceausescu was head of state, Lăpușna Castle became a hunting castle, visited by important international statesmen and politicians such as Nikita Khrushchev, the secretary general of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
Everything is built of solid spruce wood, the hand-crafted sculptures have been perfectly preserved for 90 years, with no splits and cracks. Stained glasses are original, terracotta stoves are unique, specially manufactured in Vienna, double glazing are made of handmade glass, proof being the bubbles of air that can be seen through them. The chandeliers, the ironware - everything is made of wrought iron, manufactured by hand, by local craftsmen.
In the games room on the ground floor of the castle, a chess table was built to please Mihail Sadoveanu, a close friend to the royal house and fond of the game of mind.
Currently, the rooms that once belonged to kings, queens, nobles, and leading politicians can be booked by tourists for accommodation. It has 40 accommodation spaces, out of which 16 are divided into 8 rooms with a double bed and en-suite bathroom, classified as 3*** and the other 24 spaces are divided into 13 rooms of 2**.
You can also organize various events: weddings, christenings, anniversaries, Easter celebrations, Christmas parties, New Year’s Eve parties, teambuildings or creative camps.
The castle is the ideal place for those who love hiking in nature and for those who are passionate about hunting or fishing in the mountain river.
